Smosh: The Movie | Watched On 06/19/25 | ★★☆☆☆
I'll simply paste my Letterboxd review:
"Saw this the day It came out. Years beforehand, my brother randomly showed me a youtube video, and I just kept watching them. 'PARANORMAL EASY BAKE OVEN!' and 'FOOD BATTLE 2012' are probably my most rewatched videos on the Internet. I heard there was gonna be a movie and excitedly told him about it. He promised to watch it with me.
Sitting there in my brother's room, staring at the TV, and idly chatting about the movie was something really special to me. A really important memory.
I have multiple little 'all about me' papers from the time, lovingly stating that this was my favorite movie. l've seen it a bakers dozen times on my iPod touch on various road trips and such - it was my go to piece of media to watch literally whenever. I think even then I knew it wasn't the best movie. But I liked it.
Just now, I put this on with a friend, immediately after not being able to sit through Fred the movie. We had sex, and I stopped compulsively midway through multiple times so I could explain Smosh lore. I do not think I will watch this movie again.
thanks for everything, smosh the movie"
FЯED: The Movie | Watched On 06/19/25 | ★☆☆☆☆
this movie fucking sucks. i watched it a thousand times on nickelodeon and thought it was like. watchable at least, but upon a recent attempt, not the case!!!
its a little silly. i guess. had to scrub through a buncha the segments because ougghhhh. it just sucks! there's some good gags though - i love derf... also kevin and his mom. but like oh my god me and my friend were completely unable to sit through this. it IS fascinating, i will say. thats it.
surely fred 2 isn't that bad....
the first hundred strong bad emails | Watched On 2017(?) | ?????
not a movie!! but i've had this dvd set forever and thought it'd be fun to slap here. Got SUPER into homestar runner in middle school and picked this up. i think i still mainly went through them just on youtube, but i busted this out every once and a while for funsies. idk i just think its neat!! strongbad emails was my intro to all these characters and he's awesome... Unfortunately only really dove into the surface level stuff :( ive GOTTA look into the site more... eventually..
no clue at all what the hell i'd rate this. its just a buncha gags!! how do i possibly rate that amongst like. actual movies and narratives. I think the idea of rating movies in general is kinda stupid, and diminishes films as an art but ALSO!! its kinda fun. so im a hypocrit. granted, most the movies here are kinda slop movies.
Pixels | Watched On ??/??/?? | ★★☆☆☆
February 14th, 2016. My family, for a while did a strange little tradition of giving eachother a relatively inexpensive gift every valentines day. this was the day i recieved a bluray copy of Pixels. I knew it wasn't a good movie as i kid. it was just okay for me even that, but holy shit I've seen this thing so many times. I dont know why! I can close my eyes and watch it start to finish in the span of 10 seconds. Its SEARED into my brain, thoroughly. I show it to everyone i know and they hate it. q*bert turns into a busty woman at the end of the movie so josh gadd can have sex and then they have a bunch of q*bert babies. love the guy, probably one of the most worthless videogame characters, but he kinda sucks here. Wreck it Ralph Q*bert is peak.
I DO like when duck hunt dog is there. kinda legitimately crazy cgi?? I've seen a ton of these adam sandler flicks and this one easily standouts out the most. kinda like that the videogames included are kinda very specific and odd, like this is just one specific guy's idea of what arcade games were.
The Simpsons: Treehouse of Horror | Watched On ??/??/?? | ★★★★☆
No longer have the dvd but i think?? its just treehouse of horror V, VI, VII, and XII? pretty sure at least. I watched this SO much as a kid. again not a movie. whoops!!! but i loved this disc. I like all of em, but the one i think of incredibly often is Homer3. God i love the animation, but Homer goes to the REAL WORLD, DUDE!!! what! no but for real though i would feel such an unimaginable sorrow upon viewing that scene. He is so fucking scared, man. no one is helping him. he can't get home! I legitametely think that this made me cry multiple times as a kid. I believed that canonically this was the end of the simpsons series. homer lost in the real world forever, seperated from all his loved ones, and thrust in a strange place. fucked up.
i'd thought that the lost CyberWorld version of this scene was a wholly different take for a good while but to my knowledge it wasn't altered in any way? That kinda sucks lol but glad there's no content thats just. gone.
